about a month ago, i went to start the car but It took me a few moments to get the key to even turn in the ignition
then yesterday morning I went to start my car and couldnt get it to turn again.. only this time i failed to get it.
its the right key and i tried all the little tricks I know (steering wheel, brake, etc etc)
what could be the problem, A local dealership said that it's probably the anti-theft device and it needs to be reset. does that sound right?....and if so. how much would that cost?
thanks everyone! Actually it's a very common problem on focuses. Usually it's a dealership repair item only. The problem are the tumblers in the ignition lock cylinder, they will freeze up and stick, not allowing you to turn the key. You can either have it towed to a dealership or you can try lightly tapping on the back of the key with a hammer as you are turning it. Sometimes this has worked for me in the past. Ford technician
