My plumbing is backing up into my drains?
I have a septic tank and the house is built on a slab. The septic system is 20 years old. Last September I had the septic tank cleaned and the man said I MIGHT need a new septic field. What tests can we do, or what can we check, before calling a plumber.
you can access the septic to see if the water level is above the inlet pipe coming from the house. if the water level is below the inlet you have a clogged inlet, if its above the water is not leaving the tank to keep up with the water you are draining. sometimes if your leach field is saturated the water starts to rise to ground level, walk in the leach field to see how the ground is. sometimes grease builds up in the outlet side of tank leading to the leach field causing a clog or slow drain. hard to say without seeing the tank for myself.
