Cat food question? does anyone know of a good cat food to feed to two cats because I have a kitten and an adult cat so what would be a good food. I just got both of them at the shelter today and I i was wondering what to feed them. one is named Angel and the other is named Mocha.
Anything you get in the grocery store isn't the best for them. Go to a pet store, and look at the ingredients. Avoid foods that contain by-products - those are the things that aren't identifiable, they are the wastes of the slaughter house. Things like feathers, beaks, diseased organs, scrapings from the slaughterhouse floor - those are by products. Avoid foods with grains as the primary ingredient - these foods are cheaper because corn of course is cheaper than meat. Also avoid food with chemical preservatives like BHA, BHT or Ethoxyquin . These are all possible carcinogens, and the source of many tummy upsets.

Good quality foods will have enough nutrition to feed your growing kitten. Spending a little extra money on a hight-quality food will prevent more expensive health issues down the line. You wouldn't expect to stay healthy on a diet of junk food, and neither can your cats! Buy the best food that you can afford, same as you do for yourself. Don't fall into the trap of the cute bags and advertisements. Most of the best foods come in very plain bags, and do not advertise in the mass media.

And good for you for adopting shelter cats. Congratulations on your new family members!
