OverDrive Digital Console...Library?

OverDrive Digital Console...Library? Is there anyway to check out downloadable digital media from OverDrive if that media is not available at my local public library but is available thru another public library? If so, how do I go about doing so? I asked a librarian at the local library if it would be possible to check it out thru interlibrary loan and she said it is not. The media just lasts for 2wks and then expires so it's not like you would be stealing or downloading it illegally. Is there not an online library that offers media to all and is not just limited to my geographic area?
I see a few potential solutions: 1) If the item is available through another public library through Overdrive, is it possible to get a card at the other library? Then you should be able to access the item.

2) Does your library subscribe to Overdrive at all? If so, you can suggest that they purchase that particular title. It may not happen quickly, though, libraries have red tape to wade through.

3) Is the item available through another source? E.g., if it's an audiobook that you want on MP3, can the library ILL an MP3 copy for you? Go to the Reference Desk and tell the Reference Librarian what you are looking for, and s/he may have other suggestions on how to acquire the same material. Good luck!
