Sure, you adapt, you get better at life, you learn and change your habits... but you cant really change your desires or your personality.

Even psychologist agree with that. People change under two circumstances... one, they force themselves, consciously, to change their habits. It changes their outward appearance only... and becomes almost natural. Eventually not even conscious. But just a programmed superimposed trait.. on top of the real garbage that is you.

People also change if there is a drastic, emotionally strong event in their life that shocks them into a realization.

So no, I dont think people really ever change. They say they do, they would like to believe they do... they may even live and act differently... but it eats at their soul deep down, being fake, being forced to change for one reason or another, be it a social or romantic or emotional blackmail.

That is why I judge people based on their past. You have to judge and assess people somehow. You cant judge someone for their body and looks... but you can for their personality. And their history is the best way to know their personality. What they did in their past shows their past habits, their actions and reactions, their rationalizations.

People can be fake in the now. They can have fanciful dreams for the future. But no amount of pleading or acting or dreaming overrides their past... which is a perfect indicator for how they will continue to act and be in the future if pressed.

Whatever changes a personality makes is superimposed on top of the old. The old is still there, acting as the foundation to everything that came after.
