the crimson and gold
that consumes all the green
I have waved my last summer goodbye
I have gazed upon my last October sky
all of my autumns have passed away
for now it is winter, and forever it will stay Report Abuse by just_rit...

Your next two lines make such a dramatic shift in tone that I was caught unaware until I read "I have gazed upon my last October sky / all of my autumns have passed away."
There is such finality in your words. I feel sad, lost and unsure of why the poet must say goodbye. What tragedy has transpired, something that I am not allowed to share?
"For now it is winter, and forever it will stay." There is no sadness in the voice of the poet, the voice is sure and certain. The words are spoken matter-of-fact and there is no request to pity or to mourn.
It's sad but so strong. I love it. Thanks for sharing.
